Painting

Painting is the practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a surface or support base. Referring to art, “Painting” is a mode of expression, and the forms are numerous. Paintings can be naturalistic and representational; photographic, abstract, be loaded with narrative content, symbolism, emotion or be political in nature.

The history of painting spans many millenniums, and continues into the 21st century. The oldest known paintings are at the Grotte Chauvet in France, claimed by some historians to be about 32,000 years old

Some famous painters in Western Art are Giotto di Bondone, Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt van Rijn, Diego Velázquez, Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol
