A continent is one of several large landmasses on Earth, generally identified by convention rather than any strict criteria. Seven regions are commonly regarded as continents: Asia, Africa, North America, South America (often these two continents are considered as a larger one called America), Antarctica, Europe, and Australia (considered as a continent, but sometimes most definitions recognize parts of Australasia such as Australia, New Zealand, and New Guinea, as included in Oceania)
