Australia is a country in the southern hemisphere comprising the mainland of the world's smallest continent, the major island of Tasmania, and numerous other islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Australia has a landmass of 7,617,930 square kilometres (2,941,300 sq mi), and 34,218 kilometres (21,262 mi) of coastline



Oceania


Oceania is a geographical and geopolitical region consisting of numerous lands—mostly islands- in the Pacific Ocean. The islands that are included in Oceania are divided into the subregions of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. Most definitions recognize parts of Australasia such as Australia, New Zealand, and New Guinea as included in Oceania.
