Ships & Boats

A ship is a large vessel that floats on water. Ships are generally distinguished from boats based on size. A boat is a watercraft of modest size designed to float or plane on water, usually inland (lakes) or in protected coastal areas

Ships and boats have developed alongside mankind. They have become an integral part of modern commercial and military systems, and are used by millions of fishermen throughout the world.

These vessels were also important in history's great explorations and scientific and technological development. From prehistoric canoes to today's nuclear-powered carriers, ships tell us the history of humankind.
